Join Pastor Mark for a three-week Advent Study beginning Thursday, December 5th, at noon in the Ministry Center. This series is based on Magrey R. de Vega's Advent study. We'll take the time to reflect on each of the four Gospel's encouragement to prepare for the birth of Christ into our lives and world. Through this study and worship, we will not only prepare ourselves to experience Jesus' birth afresh again this year, but we will also see when and how Jesus is already here! This Advent Study will be held on Thursdays during Advent at noon in the Ministry Center. The study will meet on December 5th, 12th, and 19th. Sign up below to attend.
Topics:
Week 1 - Awakening to Advent (Gospel of Mark)
Theme - Mark's urgency and focus on preparation. What are we preparing for? How can we prepare for Jesus' birth if he is already here? How can we build a sense of anticipation as we prepare for Christ's coming?
Week 2 - Hope in the Promise (Gospel of Matthew)
Theme - Exploring Jesus' genealogy and the promises fulfilled, focusing on Matthew's portrayal of Jesus as the promised Messiah. Where in the story of our own lives do we find hope?
Week 3 - Peace in the Presence (Gospel of John)
The professed mystery of the Word becoming flesh, dwelling among us, and the peace we find in God's presence.
