"So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified." - 1 Corinthians 9:26-27.
Pupose is the beginning. It gives us direction. Without it, we will run in circles. Take some time today to make sure you have some direction.
"Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed." - Psalm 57:1
What a Savior! We can awake every new day with purpose to live, with meaning to our lives because in him we have eternal life. No matter what we face in life with all of its troubles, we can live in joy because he has overcome. He will never leave us or forsake us and nothing on earth can take his love from us in Jesus.
"The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crused in spirit." - Proverbs 15:13
When we are crushed in spirit and feel at our worst, words rarely help. Trite phrases like everything happens for a reason just don't resolve any of the pain we feel so deeply. Mostly, we just need to know we aren't alone. God understands that. He promises to draw near in those times.
If you're there, be sensitive for his presence. If you're not, be sensitive to those around you.
Looking back and looking forward can help us prepare ourselves. For what? All the things we can't change? Make sure you give the present as much thought as the past and future. Don't miss today. It will never happen again.
"Look carefully how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil." - Ephesians 5:15-16
"Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory." - 1 Peter 1:8
Do you ever just feel like you might explode because something amazing has happened and you don't know how to let all the feelings out? If your answer is yes, remember that God is behind every good thing that happens to you, even when you can't see him.
We all dream some pretty dreams. God is able to do way more than we can imagine. That's a lot. Sometimes we crowd our thoughts with the worst that can happen, not the best. Will you leave some room today for God's plans for you?
"Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us." - Ephesians 3:20
"But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by is wounds we are healed." - Isaiah 53:5
We all take our lumps in life. It seems like some days are ment to punish us. Whatever you face today, know that your wounds are taken by Jesus himself so that you can be healed.
Jesus looked at them and said, "With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God." - Mark 10:27
Life just seems impossible sometimes. We have so many expectations to fulfill - from others, from ourselves, from life. Jesus simplified alll that when he came. He told us plainly, yes, with us, many things are impossible. With God, though, all things are possible. Are you willing to believe that today?
"So we are Christ's ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us." - 2 Corinthians 5:20
It's easy to forget. People are watching. God puts us on display, proudly, because we are how he makes new friends. Remember today that you have the ability to represent Jesus to everyone you see - especially other believers.
"The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing." - Zephaniah 3:17
People sing to God so often, and yet we forget that he sings over us. He delights in us and it brings a song to his lips. Does that change how you feel about yourself today, knowing that the creator of everything sings when he thinks of you?
