"Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant." - Philippians 2:5-7
The best compliment we could get would be this, right? Someone seeing God in us is like nothing we can do ourselves. That's what Jesus did. He pointed to God and reflected who he was. Try this today.
"Let's not merely say that we love one another; let us show the truth by our actions." - 1 John 3:18
People won't always remember what we say, but they always remember how we make them feel. Make it count when you spend time with people. Make sure to do something that reflects what you say.
"He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?"
- Micah 6:8
A lot of people are searching for the best way to live life. It's not really that complicated if you're ok with one thing. Living life like that isn't easy. At least it's not easy to give these things expecting nothing in return. Try these on today for your rule of life.
"For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength." - Philippians 4:13
Some days give us hard choices. We can either stop in the middle of those moments - give up - or we can keep going and make it through to something better. Don't stop just because it's hard. The Lord of creation reminds you that you can do it, through Christ.
He said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you." - Matthew 17:20
To us, the mountains are enormous obstacles that we have to climb over or go around. To God, they're just part of the landscape. All the obstacles in your life right now can't compare to God's plan for you. Just believe that God is working things out for your good and his glory.
"You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word." - Psalm 119:114
It's natural for us to have "hopes." We hope that we are liked, or that we do well in life. When it comes down to it, though, our hope rests in God and his promises. He promises we will never be alone, that we will have his grace and so much more. It's all in his word to us. Remind yourself of this today by reading it.
"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." - Jeremiah 29:13
God is always ready for us. He's there, waiting. But he wants us to seek him out. Not half-heartedly but with everything we have. Can you lay inside all your challenges in life to spend time with God today?
"Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow." - James 1:2-3
How have you grown this week?
"Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have given me relief when I was in distress. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer!" - Psalm 4:1
When we pray, it's easy to bring our anxiety to God. The hard part is leaving them with him to solve instead of trying to solve them ourselves. Take a step of faith today and leave something with God, then watch and wait for his solution.
"We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ."
- 2 Corinthians 10:5
Faith sometimes just means clearing our mind of all the distractions it feeds us. Not every thought we have should grow into action. Fight those stray thoughts today with what you know is true. Your life will be better for it.
