But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: God opposes the proud, but shows favor to the humble." - James 4:6
Need more grace today? Who doesn't! It's there for us, you know. The pathway to more grace is letting go of our 'needs' so God can give us his favor.
"Bet still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act." - Psalm 37:7
We all want the best lives we can possibly live. Who wouldn't?! Sometimes we just have to wait - either for the best to arrive or for us to realize the best is already here and we just didn't recognize it. Which are you?
"And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow - not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love." - Romans 8:38
Paul of Tarsus wrote this ages ago. He was fought, abused, both verbally and physically, and thrown in jail for his testimony of Jesus. Even through all his suffering, he was convinced of God's love and it's continual presence in his life. How convinced are you?
"O my son, give me your heart. May your eyes take delight in following my ways." - Proverbs 23:26
It's humbling to think of how we are valued by God. He made everything. He created it all with his words. At the same time, he cherishes us as his people. That means each of us is loved by God. Even the people who are hard for you to love. Let's make sure we value each other today.
"Faith is the confidence that we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see." - Hebrews 11:1
Trust isn't really trust when you can look around you and see that everything is alright. It's way harder to trust when you can't see anything. Do something crazy today simply because you trust God. It's like giving God a hug.
"God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him." - James 1:12.
Don't give in. Don't give up. Hold on for the blessing. Through Christ, you can endure all that life throws at you and receive the crown that God promises.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." - 2 Corinthians 5:17.
God gives us so many promises to rely on. We are loved, cherished, and accepted. We are forgiven and redeemed. Today's promise is different. In Christ, we are new. Rely on that promise today.
"Count it all joy when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. Adn let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." - James 1:2-4
Sometimes, maybe most times, the best things are hard. They don't come easy. They take work and time. This passage reminds us to keep our joy in those times because we know that something wonderful is coming.
"Souls who follow their hearts thrive; fools bent on evil despise matters of soul." - Proverbs 13:19
Life takes more than just eating and sleeping to make it worth living. It takes the careful cultivation of our souls. Spend a little time today with the person who cares the most for yours.
