"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." - Joshua 1:9
To be honest, I really struggle with being commanded to not be afraid. If I'm afraid, "commanding" me to be strong and courageous doesn't really make sense. Unless that is, you understand God's power. Because he can command everything. I can rest in his strength. This verse then becomes a promise for God's faithfulness in my fear.
