"You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book." - Psalm 56:8
Sometimes we feel alone in our pain and suffering. We feel like all those tears we shed come out in private for no one to know. But God knows. He keeps track of them and records them in his book. Not to shame us, but to make everything right one day.
"Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you." - Proverbs 4:25
How easy is it for our minds to wander? We start out focused and intent on our day, then life happens. It's just too easy sometimes to be pulled along the current of our worlds into constant distraction. Choose today to be focused, even if only for a while, on God, and his direction. You'll have a better day for it.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."
- 2 Corinthians 5:17.
Some people think of Jesus as the person who made them worth something. He's the one who came in and changed them. He made up the difference between their sin and God's expectations of them. I choose to believe that Jesus reveals what God intended for us and makes that possible through his sacrifice. Which do you believe?
"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." - John 1:5
In our simple world, we easily overcome. It could be that we run out of time, or traffic lights don't help us any, or our friends don't understand us. Jesus is never overcome. He chases away any darkness he sees. Spend some time in the light today, and let God overcome your problems.
"Lift up your eyes all around, and see; they all gather together, they come to you; your sons shall come from afar, and your daughters shall be carried on the up." - Isaiah 60:4
Every day dawns for us to see it. To experience it in all its fullness. For believers, it's a day of promise. It's OUR promise to become closer to our Lord and to experience him more. Make today special by looking for God's presence around you rather than looking at the presents he has given you.
"And he is before all things, and in him, all things hold together." - Colossains 1:17
Before this minute, before today, before this week, before this year, before you were born, before your great grandparents were born, before the moon and the earth and the sun, before anything was created, Jesus was there. And since that time he holds it all together. How big are your problems today knowing that?
"For the LORD is our judge; the LORD is our lawgiver; the LORD is our king; he will save us." - Isaiah 33:22
We don't really think of kings anymore or the protection they could offer. Imagine, though, that you knew someone who was powerful. They could take over another nation. Also, imagine that they were on your side. They watch what you do and help you all the time. How would you feel going up against your day's challenges then? It's all true.

"Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us." - 2 Corinthians 5:20.
It's easy to forget people are always watching. God never forgets. He puts us on display, proudly. We are how he makes new friends. Remember today that you have the ability to re-present Jesus to everyone you see - especially other believers.
"I have come into the world as light so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness." - John 12:46
As the seasons change, the sun sets sooner In some places it gets dark at 4:30. That's when people start stumbling around trying to get home when they would normally have another hour to be out. Jesus came so that we wouldn't have to stumble around in spiritual darkness. His sun never sets. Will you let him guide you today?
"Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope; today I declare that I will restore to you double."
- Zechariah 9:12.
Prisoners are held against their will. What a strange turn of phrase that we should be held against our will by hope But, that's how God works sometimes. He takes us into the deep mysteries so that he can bring us closer to him. Today, think about how God is calling you into hope."
