Sometimes we focus so much on what happened already that we can't see what's happening right now. Today, you have a chance to let go of the past and accept the present as you're led into God's future for you.
Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. - Proverbs 4:25
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." - Micah 6:8
What requirements do we have for ourselves? To look great like people we see on TV, to say the right things, the clever things, or to be seen with the right people - there are so many expectations we place on ourselves. God has three hopes for us: ACT JUSTLY; LOVE MERCY; WALK HUMBLY. Which will you choose today?
"So we are Christ's ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us." - 2 Corinthians 5:20
It's easy to forget. People are watching. God puts us on display, proudly, because we are how he makes new friends. Remember today that you have the ability to represent Jesus to everyone you see - especially other believers
The LORD, your God, is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love, he will no rebuke you; but will rejoice over you with singing." - Zephaniah 3:17
People sing to God so often, and yet we forget that he sings over us. He delights in us, and it brings a song to his lips. Does that change how you feel about yourself today, knowing that the creator of everything sings when he thinks of you?
"For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." - Ephesians 2:10
We are created to do good things. If you feel like your life is meaningless or without purpose, maybe it's time to do the work of finding and using your gift. The best way to do that is to spend time with the person who made you.
"And he said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." - Matthew 4:10
These words began so many of Jesus' relationships. Most of the time, he was just asking for a game of follow the leader, but that's not too far from his intent. Jesus came to show us how to live. If we watch him, we could land a lot about the way to live an amazing life. Are you watching him today?
"But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the LORD does sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart."
Isn't that just like God? He sees past all the ways we cover ourselves up and peeks into the core of who we are. He sees all of the wonderful things he created us for. He also sees some of the things we're not so proud of. All that, he sees, and he still loves us the same. Do you believe that today?
"Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path." - Psalm 119:105
Nobody wants to stumble around in the dark. It's just not much fun. Choose today to not only listen to God but to let him guide you as well.
"Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." - Matthew 6:34
No one has a crystal ball that will promise them a failure for tomorrow. And who would want one, anyway? But isn't that what we do when we assume that tomorrow will be horrible? It doesn't help us. This short piece of wisdom from the Bible tells us what we already know. Does the authority of its author help you let it go?
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." - John 10:10
We all face challenges that slow us down, sometimes even stopping us in our tracks. For all those struggles, it might help to remember Jesus' mission. He came to make life possible for us - a rich and satisfying life. The challenges we face are from the enemy, not from God. Who will you listen to today?
