Welcome to this online worship service from Church of the Pines in Minocqua, Wisconsin. Due to the winter weather warning and hazardous travel conditions, we are unable to gather in person today. However, we are grateful that we can still worship together through this pre-recorded service.

Today is the Fourth Sunday in Lent, a season in the church year when we reflect, pray, and prepare our hearts for the hope of Easter. In today's message, we are invited to consider how God opens our eyes to see more clearly--with compassion, faith, and courage.

We invite you to pause, quiet your heart, and prepare for worship wherever you are watching today. Though we may be in different places, we remain connected as one community of faith.

Thank you for joining us. May this time of worship bring you peace, encouragement, and hope.

Important Weather Update: Sunday Worship Service –
 March 15

Because of the winter storm forecast for our area, our in-person worship service for Sunday, March 15, at 9:30 a.m. has been canceled. The safety of our congregation and community is our highest priority.
Although we cannot gather in person this week, Pastor Mark has prepared a pre-recorded worship service video so we can still worship together from home. The video will be available to watch on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. on the following Church of the Pines media platforms:
YouTube Channel
https://www.youtube.com/@umchurchofthepines
Facebook Page
https://www.facebook.com/churchofthepines
Church Website
https://www.umchurchofthepines.org/
We invite you to join us online for this special service video and to take time for prayer and reflection wherever you are. You can watch the video at whatever time after 9:30 a.m. on Sunday that is convenient for you.
Please stay safe and warm during the storm, and we look forward to gathering together again soon.

The Way of Love: From Ashes to Resurrection
Lent is a sacred season of return—a time to slow down, reflect, and realign our lives with the love of Christ. This year, we follow Jesus not only to the cross, but through encounters that challenge, restore, and transform. In the wilderness, by a well, at a tomb, Jesus meets people with grace and truth. As we walk this path, we are invited to let go, to trust, and to be changed by love. For information about Lent, Holy Week, and Easter, click on the button below.

40 Days of Lent - A Daily Journey from Ashes to Resurrection
Lent is a season of reflection, renewal, and preparation — a sacred journey that leads us from ashes to the empty tomb. Beginning on Ash Wednesday and continuing through Easter, we invite you to walk these 40 days together as a church family through a series of short daily devotionals.
Each day's reflection will include a brief Scripture, a thoughtful message, and a simple invitation to respond — helping us deepen our understanding of Lent, grow in trust, and live Christ’s love more intentionally in our daily lives.
These devotionals are designed to be:
• Rooted in Scripture
• Hope-filled and encouraging
• Practical and personal
• Connected to our mission of trust, generosity, and compassion
You can find a new devotional posted each day on our Facebook page or our church website. Even just a few minutes each day can help center your heart, strengthen your faith, and prepare you for the joy of Easter morning.
We hope you will join us — read along, reflect, respond, and share. Let’s walk this Lenten journey together.

Welcoming Our Neighbors:
A Faith Perspective on Immigration

"While we do not believe churches should affiliate with particular political parties, we do encourage churches to speak out boldly on social issues from a gospel perspective. We further believe churches have a right and responsibility to educate and equip their members to be effective advocates for justice in the wider world." (Book of Discipline 202012024, Government Responsibilities, A., Church and Society).
