Valentine's Day Cookie Project by Esther/Martha Circle
Friendship in the Kitchen: On Tuesday, February 11th, at Church of the Pines, the Esther/Martha Circle filled decorated boxes with beautifully decorated Valentine’s cookies. Much love from many caring people, who are also fantastic cookie bakers, went into this special project. The cookies will be delivered to members and friends of Church of the Pines who, for various reasons, cannot come to church to participate in activities or attend worship services. Can you imagine how surprised and happy the recipients of the cookies will be when they open their doors and receive these cookies? They will feel loved by their church family! Thanks to everyone who helped bake, package, and deliver the cookies. Happy Valentine’s Day to all! |

Here is a photo sent in by Venus Hilgart of some freshly baked cookies for the United Women in Faith's Cookie Walk. She must have had some help from some cookie-making elves! More cookies will be made at Church of the Pines on Monday, December 9th, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Stop by the church if you want to help make and bake cookies for the Cookie Walk.

In 1979, the United Methodist Women (now the United Women in Faith) held its first Cookie Walk to raise funds for its Mission fund that supports many nonprofit organizations. This unique event continues 45 years later, including a Craft Sale and the Cookie Walk. It's a win-win...you get cookies and crafts for the holidays, and many charities benefit from the funds raised by the event. When you buy cookies and crafts, you are helping the following organizations: Lakeland Food Pantry, Lakeland Sharing, NATH (Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing), Tri-County Council on Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault, Lac du Flambeau Domestic Abuse Shelter, Pastime Club, Personal Essentials Pantry (Rhinelander), Neighbor' Place (Wausau), and Harbor House (Superior).
Thanks to everyone who baked cookies and stopped by Church of the Pines to purchase cookies. This year was the most successful Cookie Walk ever!
